School groups are welcome at the Gemfields Information Centre. We seek to inform and educate children through hands-on activities. Children of all ages soon learn to pick sapphires and other semi-precious stones out of the dirt in their fossicking sieves. Your class will enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Gemfields.

We regularly arrange and cater for day tours for school groups from all over Queensland. We are experienced in making sure your class has a great time. Our clean, tiled toilet facilities and large shaded outdoor eating area can easily accommodate your class.

Services provided to school groups:
- Prepare
a program suitable for your class
- Make all
bookings with other Gemfields operators for activities as needed
- Provide
any equipment needed
- Provide
you with a "What to Bring" list for your class
- Arrange suitable breaks for eating, resting or shopping (if permitted),
- Cater
for lunch or heat hot dogs that you supply
- Reduce
money handling by including all activities, entry fees and meals in
one pre-determined cost (Separate cheque needed for underground mine
tour)
- Assist
in any way possible to make the trip a success and save you a lot of
time, worry and phone calls.

- Facetting demonstration
- Tutorial on Sapphires
- Photo stop: 5 million carat facsimile of a facetted sapphire (the large size helps children understand what 'facetting' means)
- Underground Mine Tour
- Gemfields Tour
- Shopping with a large range of souvenirs and jewellery if school policy permits.
